Our story began in 2020, during the heart of the global pandemic. While the world was baking bread, we chose to skip the
calories and pour candles instead, something small that could bring light to a
dark time.

What started in a kitchen, surrounded by
uncertainty, became a quiet ritual of hope, scent, and softness.

Then, Dan passed. And everything paused.

Polly took some time, as anyone would. But
eventually, she returned, with far more clarity, certain she’d like to create a
brand that reminds us to celebrate the now in a world that moves so fast. One
candle at a time, she began to rebuild. Gently. Patiently. Flame by flame.

Today, Dan & Polly is more than just a name,
 it’s a living story of growth, grief,
and celebration. A reminder that no moment is too small to honour.

At Dan & Polly, we care about more than just beautiful design – we care about what you breathe in, how your home feels, and the kind of impact we leave behind. That’s why our candles are crafted using eco pillar soy wax – a natural, plant-based alternative to traditional paraffin wax.

Unlike paraffin, which is a petroleum byproduct, our soy wax:

• Comes from renewable sources
  
• Burns cleaner with minimal soot or smoke
  
• Is non-toxic, making it gentler on your lungs and safer for your home
  
• Burns slower, giving you more hours of light and scent
  
• Holds fragrance beautifully, offering a more even, lasting scent throw
  

We don’t use harsh additives, synthetic stabilisers, or paraffin blends – just a considered wax that aligns with our values of wellness, care, and sustainability.

Because soy wax is more costly to produce and work with (especially in sculptural pillar form), our prices reflect the true cost of crafting clean-burning, ethically minded candles with soul. We believe every light you strike should honour both your space and the world outside it.

Hi, I’m Polly – the founder and flame behind Dan & Polly. Most know me as, Shana.

In 2021, I lost my dad, Dan – a gentle giant who believed in my creativity long before I did. Not long after, I found myself in a 9–5 job that looked good on paper but left me feeling completely dimmed. I realised life is far too short to stay in spaces that don’t celebrate our light. So I left. I followed the spark.

What began as a quiet ritual in my kitchen – just me, a candle mould, and a moment of hope – slowly grew into Dan & Polly: a small-batch candle studio built on scent, memory, and meaning.

Today, Dan & Polly is more than just a brand. It’s a living story of growth, grief, and celebration. A reminder to fall into the present moment and to honour life as it is – loud or quiet, soft or sacred. Every candle is made with intention, inviting you to pause, breathe deeply, and find beauty in the now.

Whether it’s a sculptural pillar from one of our collections or a custom cake candle made for someone special, everything we create is crafted as something soulful, personal, and filled with care.
